Preference Points will be given to those individuals who meet one of the following criteria-

       • Military experience will be accepted if the applicant’s actual

          duties were directly related to civil police work.
       • Sixty-four (64) college credits. College credits must be from

          an accredited institution and may include academic or

          technical courses.
       • Possession of a Level One Reserve Officer Certification from

          Idaho POST.
       • Enrolled in and/or completion of the Idaho POST Self-

          Sponsored Student Program and completion of the Basic

          Academy.
       • Bilingual in Spanish/English - A language fluency test will be

          conducted.

Nampa Police Department offers a lateral transfer program for certified officers, at a 2 for 1 years of service ratio.

( e.g. Transfers with 10 years experience with another agency plug in at NPD 5 year pay rate, rather than starting pay rate)

 

Police Officer Basic Training- 

  • 6 week in house mini academy
  • 14 week, 4 phase field training program
  • 10 week patrol academy (Idaho P.O.S.T. Academy)
  • 40 hour annual block training
  • Quarterly firearms training and qualification

    • Multitasking test
    • Oral board evaluation

 Dispatch Basic Training-  

  • 6 month communications training program
  • 2 week basic dispatch academy (Idaho P.O.S.T Academy)
  • 1 week advanced dispatch academy (Idaho P.O.S.T. Academy)
