The Nampa Police Dispatch Center currently dispatches for Nampa Police and Nampa Fire Department. All 911 calls within the incorporated limits of Nampa come into this center. Medical calls are dispatched to both the fire department and the Canyon County Sheriff's Office who handles the dispatching for the Canyon County Paramedics. Typically there are at least two dispatchers on duty at all times with three serving during swing shift hours. The City Council has approved four new dispatchers in FY 08 we will begin hiring those people in February 2008. Fire and EMS were sent on over 4,765 calls for service from October to June. This does not count the number of calls that dispatchers resolve without the need to send an officer. The Dispatch Center is completely computerized using an enhanced 911 phone system with a computer aided dispatch system. There are currently twelve full time dispatchers and one part time dispatcher under the supervision of Carmen Boeger who is the current Dispatch Supervisor. From October to June, this center received 154,524 calls, we are on track to have a quarter million phone calls in the center this year. Our Agency has in place software for Phase 2 911 service. We are awaiting the cell phone providers to begin phase 2 service, providing location of 911 cell phone calls for fast emergency service.
